Master your internal world a new magic trick to Self-esteem

Moving a step forward to good Self-esteem it is a question of strategy. You cannot reach it unless you master your internal world.

Mastering your internal world is not complicated.  As far as you are conscious that you are an emotional human being, whom most of the time act under the effect of emotions despite of the rational thoughts. 

Yes, it’s true we are emotional beings who think. When we come to an agreement with specific emotions, yes we get the power to master our internal world and become more confident.  As I have written in my previous article, avoid judgment as much as possible. Under the effect of self-judgement, it’s not possible to analyze your internal world quietness.

Master your internal world to reach more self-esteem has nothing to do with hurry and speed.

This is nothing about judgment and the amount of thoughts running into your mind, which prevent you to stay calm and serene. You can use any of the relaxation techniques you know to relax and carve out at least 10 minutes a day beginning to master your internal world. No matter you decide to master your internal world in the morning, afternoon or another time. Relax by listening to a relaxing music, lay-down on your chair, on your sofa or on your carpet if you like. You have to be comfortable and not to be disturbed by anyone. Switch-off your mobile phone and any other device. Take some deep breaths and relax.

When you feel good, let’s begin mastering your internal world.

Master your internal world, step one.

Imagine yourself while you are going down a stair. No matter if this stair is made of stone, wood if it’s big or small. Concentrate on the stair while you are going down you feel ever more relaxed. After a few seconds, you find yourself in a room. Imagine this room as you like, big or small, with sunlight entering through the windows or lighted differently.

Master your internal world, step two.

When the picture of this room is clear into your mind, imagine a person entering this room. Surprisingly he or she is a copy of yourself, he or she is your subconscious. He or she smiles to you and invites you to set down and talk about you.  

Master your internal world, step three.

Now tell your subconscious about the most detrimental emotions, and situations that hurt you. Which are those preventing you from a good self-esteem? Tell your subconscious about situations you are now striving to solve but you don’t, and that make you sad or frustrated.

Master your internal world, step four.

Ask your subconscious about a solution to your troubles. Take notes of the situations that prevent you to a good self-esteem. Identify max three situations, and think how you could improve your attitude while you are feeling a certain way.

Master your internal world, step five. 

Your subconscious may suggest you how to interact positively with other people, or how to transform your distress into acceptance. Don’t be shy and keep on talking with your subconscious as long as you like.

Master your internal world, step six.

When you have finished your conversation, thank your subconscious for his or her help. Then, climb-up the stairs until you visualize yourself in the place where you are now.

Master your internal world, step seven. 

Take other deep breath and slowly move your arms your legs. Open your eyes, and when you feel good, stand up with a positive mood. From this moment on you’ll be able to move a step forward to your self-esteem.

 Naturally, this exercise it is not something that can magically transform your life from one day to the following. You need time and practice to get in touch with your internal world. One of the best way to learn how master your internal world is accepting its rules, and change them accordingly with your needs. 

Master your internal world means to be aware of your emotions. When you understand why you feel and behave in a certain way, you get an extraordinary tool to be more conscious about your emotions. You’ll become more conscious about the situations you are experiencing and why you behave in a way or another. 

When you get use to do this exercise several times, you will understand why your attitude is vitally important to improve your self-esteem. Emotions, attitude and self-esteem are highly connected.

It is possible you have already read something about happiness and self-esteem. In any case, I would like to remind you an old saying telling that: “Only you know the best way to be happy”. This is an incontrovertible truth.

Always listen to your heart, even when you receive some different advice from friends or others. They can be right or not, but they cannot feel the same way as you feel. Therefore, before following any advice, be sure this is the same advice that you would follow. Get ever more in touch with your subconscious mind doing this exercise or practicing other techniques you know. Do it whenever you like. This is helpful to get along during your amazing journey to self-esteem and master your inner self.

Self-empowerment is easy when you know how to manage yourself in order to reach an excellent level of Self-esteem. Nevertheless, sometime it might be difficult finding confidence, especially if you are weighed down by common problems. Taking time to improve your mental health, get rid of negative emotions, has massive benefits on all areas of your life, and can make it much easier to deal with your issues and improve your Self-esteem. You do not have to rush like when you have to catch the train because you are late. It takes time to create a self-empowerment ritual that you can call on whenever you need a little mental boost. One way to build your confidence is seeing the positives in yourself, this can be a massive help when trying to overcome an obstacle. Here are some tips for a great self-empowerment routine.

Self-empowerment tip 1 – Compliment yourself

Every time you look in the mirror, compliment yourself. It doesn’t have to be anything big, and can be the same thing every time, but doing this small activity will help you to see your worth and boost your self-esteem. If a negative thought pops into your head at any point, kindly push it away and replace it with something positive to boost your self-empowerment. Imagine your negative thought are like clouds. Visualize these clouds disappearing and now you can see a shining blue sky that makes you happy. Alternatively write on your mirror positive words that define yourself. These words are like good pill for your self-empowerment.

Self-empowerment tip 2 – Stop comparing yourself

When you compare yourself to others, you take a long distance from your self-esteem and tour self-empowerment, and you risk using judgment too much. It’s a common mistake we all make, but don’t compare yourself to others. Relishing your individuality is a key part of self-empowerment, so take the time to realise your strengths and acknowledge what makes you unique. After all, why would you want to be the same as someone else? You are unique and skilled person, and you never be better or worse than any other individual on this planet and on the Universe.  

Self-empowerment tip 3 – Reflect on your actions

This doesn’t mean getting bogged down in the past, but taking time to look back on your successes and failures helps you to grow. Remembering times you achieved something will improve your self-esteem and your self-empowerment, and realizing your failures will help you learn for the future. Consider your mistakes as a way to get more self-empowerment because from your errors you can learn tons of information, which might help to write things down so you can remember them better.

Self-empowerment tip 4 – Think in certainties

One of the fundamental parts of self-empowerment is believing in your actions. Taking the time to think, “I will do this” instead of “I’ll try”, or change the word “impossible” into “possible”. When you have to face difficulties think about the alternative solutions if the final solution does not immediately come in to your mind. When you get used thinking about possible resolutions you boost your self-empowerment and self-esteem as you are using your mind at the best. This makes all the difference when it comes time to act. Already knowing you will achieve has a massive impact on the outcome of the situation.

Self-empowerment tip 5 – Visualize your future

Imagining your own success is a great way to inspire confidence, particularly if you’re feeling low. Spend a few minutes with your eyes shut seeing what it would be like to achieve your goal, and imagining how happy it will make you. Use this energy to complete the task, and always remember to believe in yourself. This is another magic trick to boost your self-esteem and self-empowerment to the top

Self-empowerment tip 6 – Take time for yourself

Taking a break from life can seem impossible for many people, but giving yourself time to recharge is crucial. Self-empowerment comes from a calm mind, so devote time to a favourite hobby or a relaxing activity. It can be anything you want; the key is to make sure you want to do it.Self-empowerment is an important tool for building confidence. You need to have faith in your own abilities before you can start acting in a confident way. Make sure you take some time every day to believe in yourself and to take stock of your position, as this will help you focus on what you’re doing.

Self-empowerment tip 7 – Set your goals.

No matter your goal is small or big, ambitious or not, setting goals is another useful manner to boost your Self-esteem and gain self-empowerment. When you commit yourself to any goal, your mind starts thinking in a certain way and is more eligible to find some ideas and solution how to reach your goals. When you get use to see things in a different way, stay more positive and more concentrated you are on the way to make your dreams come true.

Beware of negative self-judgment: one of the most dangerous enemies which can prevent you from achieving a good self-esteem

When you wake up from bed in the morning, what are your thoughts? When looking at yourself in the mirror, what do you tell yourself? As you dress and prepare yourself each new day, what is running through your mind? Are you aware of your thoughts? When we lack the knowledge of it, these thoughts keep creating the feelings and the tone that set our day. Unfortunately, for most people, these moments are filled with many negative self-judgments all their day. Negative thoughts have the ability to deprive our days of joy, focus, initiative, and can lead to depression. However, freeing your mind from negative self-judgment is very important. It will not only improve the level of satisfaction and happiness you begin to experience in your life, it will tremendously improve your health.

What is negative Self-judgement?

According to Springer, self-judgment results from thoughts individuals have about themselves and the meanings attached to those thoughts. The thoughts, hence, produce related feelings such as anxiety, anger, and depression. Judgments (The process of forming an opinion, or reaching a conclusion based on the available material) people make about themselves can become habituated as they are used to explain and validate unhelpful thoughts.

However, regrettably, what many people don’t realize is that negative self-judgment is not helpful and will not motivate you to become better. Our negative judgments about ourselves is a major cause of low self-esteem. Many of the painful emotions we experience each day are the result of the negative thoughts and judgments we make about ourselves. The negative judgments add to our stress level and the breakdown of our physical health. When we are judging ourselves negatively we feel less motivated to exercise, eat well, and our sleep can become disrupted.

When your self-esteem is strong, you tend not to engage yourself in negative self-judgment because you know who you are, you are perfectly aware of your abilities and of the goals you can achieve. You do not need to get the approval of other people to take any decision about yourself, choosing a certain job, acting in certain ways or doing whatever you deem necessary for your well-being. When you do not care, or you care less about what other people think of you, when you do not listen to their comments or disapproval, you are in the best condition as you can to be happy, worthy and to live in peace.

What do you think will happen when negative self-judgment is still an important part of your life?

If you fall into the temptation of judging yourself or losing yourself in absurd internal diatribes, whose only goal is to tarnish yourself and others, reflect on whether it is worth wasting your time judging. If you think you have made a sort of mistake, or you have behaved in a way you do not like, don’t you think it will be a waste of time if you spend your precious time judging yourself?

Instead of wasting your time blaming yourself for something you didn’t like about yourself, why don’t you stop for a moment and think if there’s something positive you could learn from your experience?

There’s always something you can learn from every kind of experience, even the one that seems the most negative. And one of the best way to improve your self-esteem is doing your best to abstain from negative self-judgment, and then thinking of good measures that can help you improve on yourself even when you have to face some difficult and unexpected situations. To be honest, I think self-judgment is a good teacher: it shows you how it is worthless to spend your time in absurd internal dialogues with yourself that may lead you to nothing useful. When you judge, do not base your information on data you haven’t personally verified, ask yourself if it is reliable. Do everything you can to avoid being influenced by the opinions of others and by theories you don’t find convincing.

There will always be someone to criticize everything you do. However, one thing you should know is that “complaints and judgment are useless”. At the cost of eliminating people who complain and judge too often, weigh the influence they have over you. Does their presence make you feel better or not? It is vitally important to be surrounded by positive people, people who make you feel good, happy, appreciate who you are, and what you do.

Let me ask you some questions about negative self-judgment.

Does each morning bring with it a reason to maintain a good self-esteem and keep your spirit alive? If your answer is “NO”, this is what you should do. First thing in the morning, to fight against negative self-judgment, tell yourself these words:

  • Today is a good day
  • I am the best version of me
  • I love who I am
  • God is always with me
  • Yesterday doesn’t define me
  • I’m a winner
  • I can achieve all my dreams
  • Other people don’t define me
  • The past is behind me
  • No one except me can control my happiness
  • I create the opportunities for success
  • Today, good things will happen to me
  • I can do it
  • I am strong
  • All is well

So, let go of gossip, rumors, negative self-judgment, and start thinking of ways to explore all the marvelous things you can do.

Five exercises to boost your Self-esteem

Self-esteem and confidence are key to succeeding in anything you do. While many people talk about improving your confidence, raising your Self-esteem is a necessary step on that journey. If you don’t think highly of yourself, how can you project an air of self-esteem and positivity? The phrase “fake it till you make it” comes to mind, but there are actually easy ways to boost your Self-esteem, and in turn raise your confidence levels.

Here five simple exercise to boost your Self-esteem.

Self-esteem exercise no. 1 – List 10 things you like about your life.

Even if you don’t feel your life is exactly where it should be you can still find things you like about it. They can be as simple as liking your pet or enjoying reading; the purpose of the exercise is to make you think about your life. It can sometimes help to acknowledge and appreciate the small things as a first step. This will open your eyes to the impact seemingly meaningless things can have on the way you feel.

Self-esteem exercise no. 2 – List 10 skills you have

Acknowledging your own skills can take some doing, especially if you’re lacking self-esteem and confidence. If you’re struggling to recognise any, think outside the box a little bit. For example, if you spend lots of time on the computer then you’ll inevitably possess good researching and knowledge skills. If you spend lots of time reading then your vocabulary and grammar might be far better than you first thought. Every time you think of a skill, write it down along with a short description on how it could help. This will let you see a worthiness you might have previously missed.

Self-esteem exercise no. 3 – Write down your goals

Keeping track of where you want to go can be hard. Writing down your goals (both short and long term) can help you plan your next steps. They don’t have to be massive or lifelong goals, and can be as simple as “go down the shops” or “see some friends,” because even these tasks can be difficult when you’re feeling low. In addition, looking back on your list of achievements can give a much-needed boost. Your goals must be affordable, respect your needs, and make you enthusiastic. So be careful when you make this list, if your goals are too difficult or in this moment, you are not ready to achieve them, think if they are feasible and then write down your list. Goals are very important to get you used to trust your amazing abilities.

Self-esteem exercise no. 4 – List 3 times you’ve overcome difficulty

We’ve all faced adversity in our lives, but some more so than others. If life is constantly beating against us it can be hard to get back up again and find the confidence to overcome an obstacle. Listing times in the past when you’ve overcome a difficulty is a great way of realizing your own resilience, which will help your self-esteem in hard times. These don’t need to be massive issues or amazing reactions, as long as you acknowledge you recovered from something. Visualize yourself some situations while you were able to solve a problem, gave a good advice which helped some friend or relative, or when you won a competition. Visualization is one of the most powerful tools you can use to become more self-confident.

Self-esteem exercise no. 5 – Avoid judgment

Use a paper and a pen, or your computer, or a recorder. For the next few days, record or note the subjects you hear people talk about. After about a week to ten days, closely re-read or listen to the information gathered and you will notice that at least 80% of the conversations you have listened to are built on complaints and judgment. Examine your notes and see what subjects made you uncomfortable. If you don’t find any, that is not a problem. What is important is that you are aware that judgment is a rather frightening adversary. So it is normal if it still taunts you as it is truly difficult to avoid judging.

Becoming a more confident person can be a long and arduous journey, but it always starts with you believing in yourself. Moreover, it’s when you have to play hard that you can realize how amazing abilities you have within and that you can use to improve your life an your self-esteem. This does not mean you have to be selfish or tell other people how good you are doing this or doing that. Self-esteem is the way to be happy, to achieve your goals and live the life you have ever dreamt of. Once you have self-esteem you can project this positivity outwards at other people, who will see you as a shining beacon of confidence. Just remember, it all starts within!

How to gain a good self-esteem

Your self-esteem is how you value and perceive yourself. According to Wikipedia, Self-esteem reflects a person’s overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgment of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self. Self-esteem encompasses beliefs about oneself, as well as emotional states, such as triumph, despair, pride, and shame”.

There are times when you lack confidence in yourself, and there are times when you feel too much self-love for yourself. However, one thing you should know is that possessing little or too high self-esteem can have an adverse effect on you. So therefore, you need to strike a balance between the duos. To achieve this, you need to ask yourself this question – “what steps should I take to gain a good self-esteem?”

As self-esteem does not depend on your DNA, it can be changed whenever you like.

When you accept to change your thoughts, your feelings, your actions, and some of your simple daily habits. Now, let’s start analyzing how self-esteem works. Though some people hardly believe self-esteem is fundamental. I have this candid advice for them: “self-esteem has the power to influence your entire life”. It is essential – for your relationships, your job, your health, your mood etc. Having a good self-esteem can literally change your life, your mind and the way you see yourself. It can boost your creativity, your job, your relationship, and every aspect of your life. When you learn how to raise the bar, you will not only have the opportunity of meeting better people, you will also feel better.  Now I’m going to explain this process to you.

Self-esteem works according a simple pattern, which follow this path. BAD THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS = USELESS ACTIONS = BAD RESULTS = LOW SELF-CONFIDENCE = LOW SELF-ESTEEM  or GOOD THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS = USEFUL ACTIONS = GOOD RESULTS = HIGH SELF-CONFIDENCE = HIGH SELF-ESTEEM

Even if you decide to change the order of this formula whenever you like, you will always come to the same result. Meanwhile, you can see that self-esteem is very important just like breathing or sleeping is pretty important to you. Specifically, what you think of yourself, influences your thoughts, your emotions, and your actions, which in turn determine your level of self-esteem. Now you may be a little confused or feel like you are lost in a kind of labyrinth, and you are in troubles to find the way to get out. Yes, it’s true that the self-esteem process is a crucial circle where one single factor is strictly connected to the other. When you do not believe in yourself, you have a negative picture of yourself. All the people around you are able to perceive your self-esteem level from your mood, your look, your way to behave, to talk, to solve any troubles. Have you ever entered a room and noticed the looks of the people around you? Isn’t it true that people who had a bad mood expression on their faces did not attract you?

As we live in a world made of vibrations, sensations and emotions, it’s almost impossible to hide who you are in reality, what you think, how you feel. Unless you prefer to “act” all the time. Emotions cannot be hidden forever, even though you are a good actor/actress.  That’s the reason why if you want to improve your self-esteem. First you have to clearly understand how it works, and get involved in its process. Especially when you are sure to take two of the most important decisions: to be committed to taking good care of yourself, and improving the quality of your emotions.

The first simple principle to understand is that “when you do not believe in yourself, bad emotions and thoughts constantly trap your mind”. As your mind is an amazing instrument, it makes all possible efforts to heal your suffering, and most of the time it takes the wrong actions to do it. When you feel: uncomfortable, sad, depressed, unworthy etc. Your mind finds it difficult to think clearly and so it uses all its power to get through these negative feelings, that you have created. Would you want to a victim of these killers of your happiness all the time? The answer is “NO!”. Then, why don’t you find the strategies to win the game against your low self-esteem or simply to improve it? You may find the following tips helpful.

Avoid pessimistic self-beliefs. When you learn to identify and challenge your pessimistic or negative self-beliefs, you can have a positive impact on your self-esteem.

Spend time with people who appreciate you. Make a conscious effort to spend more time with people who love you and treat you like you expect to be treated. This can help you to feel good about yourself and challenge your pessimistic thinking. Always be free to ask friends or loved ones what they like about you – it’s likely that they see you differently to how you see yourself.

Learn to be assertive. When you don’t like yourself, it’s easy to assume others won’t like you either. Sometimes you may want to go out of your way to help others so they can like you. But you will end up feeling bad if your plan fails. If you decide to go extra miles to please others,  you will have less time and energy to focus on yourself and can affect your mental health. In this case what should you do? All you have to do is to learn to say “NO”. When you do not want to do something, set boundaries on how much help you can render to others, and try to make positive decisions always.

Focus on the positive aspect of your life. For every little achievement, always try to praise yourself.  Try to develop the habit of writing a list of what you like about yourself.

Get support if things get too much. You don’t have to do it all by yourself. If you feel things are getting too much, getting help and/or talking to others with similar feelings and experiences can help you to accept yourself. Only when you are able to develop a certain self-awareness you have the best chances to have a good self-esteem.
